Seine River Cruise Paris, France features the landmarks of Paris andthe famous Seine River bridges 2nd of 2 posts / Family Travelogue


The continuation of our Seine River Cruise  Paris, France.  Click the link for the first part of the cruise.

This was our last day in Paris, 22 June 2013 and the last day of our Europe trip in 2013.  After the Seine Cruise, we attended a Mass at the Notre Dame.  We took some photos of the gothic building featuring the statues on the portals to  the church.  The subject would be on a separate post.

We had our lunch first before we took the cruise at Sushi Gozen.  It is a Japanese restaurant near the hotel we had stayed, Hotel Du Midi Montparnasse Paris.  Prices were reasonable.

Pont de'  Iéna  (Jena Bridge).  The bridge links the Eiffel tower on the left bank to the district of Trocadéro on the Right Bank.

Heading to Passerelle Debilly

Passerelle Debilly (Debilly Footbridge in english) connects Quai de New York and Quai de Branly close to Eiffel Tower of Paris, France.

The bridge believed to be once a secret gathering place of the secret service agents of East Germany during the cold war.  In 1989, a German diplomat, who was working for the Secret Service of the Democratic Republic of Germany, found dead on the footbridge.
The bridge was featured on the film, Femme Fatale in 2002.

Next bridge upstream:  Pont de l'Alma or Alma Bridge  (no photo)


The bridge serves as a measuring instrument for water levels in times of flooding on the Seine.
The bridge is close to the tunnel where the Princess of Wales was involved in a fatal car crash on 31 August 1997.

Nearest Station:  Metro line 9 Alma-Marceau (north end of the bridge) and RER C Station Pont de l'Alma (south end of the bridge)
  


Nearing Pont des Invalides.  The bridge is the lowest bridge crossing Seine of Paris, France.  It is located near the Metro Stations:  Champ-Elysees- Clemenceau of line 13 in the 8th arrondissement, La Tour-Mauborg of line 8 and Alma Marceau of  line 9

Next Upstream bridge: Pont Alexander III is regarded as the most extravagant bridge in Paris, France.  It connects Champ-Elysees quarter with  those of  the Invalides and Eiffel Tower.  Classified as French Monument Historique.

Nearest stations:  Invalides of Metro line 8 and 13 and RER C





Assemblee Nationale is the office building of the lower house of French Parliament.

Next bridge upstream is the Pont de la Concorde Paris

The bridge connects the Quai des Tuileries and Place de la Corcorde on the Right Bank and Quai d'Orsay on the Left Bank.

Nearest Metro: Assemblee Nationale of line 12 (7th arrondissement)  and Concorde of lines 1,8 and 12 (1st arrondissement).



Passerelle Leopold Sedar-Senghor links the Musee d'Orsay on the left bank to the Jardins des Tuileries on the right bank. We have visited the Jardins des Tuileries during our Europe tour in June 2015.

Nearest Metro: Assemblee Nationale of line 12  in the 7th arrondissement


 Musee d Orsay


Musee d Orsay situated on the left bank of Seine River Paris, France;  in between Pont Royal and Passerelle Leopold Sedar-Senghor.  It a s museum of French Arts 1848~1915.


Next bridge upstream:  Pont Royal.  One of the oldest bridges after the  Pont Neuf and Pont Marie.

The bridge links the Right bank by the Pavillon de Flore to the Left Bank between Rue de bac and Rue de  Beaune.

Nearest Metro:  Tuileries of line 1 in the 1st arrondissement.

Back to Pont des Arts.  The bridge was famous for love padlocks hooked onto the bridge by the tourist (couple) for unending love. Due to structural weakening, Paris officials decided to remove all the padlocks.





Pont Neuf (Old bridge)  is the longest standing bridge across the Seine River of Paris, France.  Nearest Metro Station:  Pont Neuf on Line 7.





Green Gallant Square (Square du Vert-Gallant)  at the tip of Island of Cite in honour of Henry IV.  Henry IV statue riding a horse is on the square.










Proceeding to the left bank of Seine, Paris France



Pont Saint-Michel  links the Left Bank to Palais de Justice.  Nearest Metro Stations: Cite or Chatelet on Line 4..  Counterpart on the left-bank side Pont Au Change



Petit Pont (little bridge) links the 4th Arrondissement to the 5th Arrondissement within the Ile de la Cite.  The bridge had been destroyed and reconstructed for 13 times since its first inception during the Galo-Roman times to  mid of 19th century.   Nearest Metro Station:  Saint-Michel.
